“And then I would have held you hostage.” Dana warned, wagging a finger in the woman’s direction. She wouldn’t have been able to handle the stampede of interns. Even her pager often went off just because they’d bribed another doctor to find her. Now she had to be sure when her pager went off, it was actually an emergency. Most of the time it wasn’t. Unless the page was directly from Kate or her staff, it was safe. Interns couldn’t bribe her boss like they could with a few of the others.

When Eveny asked for gossip, Dana knew she had something special in mind. “Raina and our bartender’s ex, apparently. Got Raina drunk and took advantage of her. She’s mortified. Doesn’t remember a thing..” When most of the women in the hospital drank, they ended up alright. But she should have known not to help her sheltered friend drink. Raina didn’t know her limits. As a friend, she should have known when to cut another off. But she hadn’t. And neither had Morgan, so Raina had to live with what had happened, even if she was upset. 

“Oh, you wouldn’t do that to me ?” Eveny asked, with a false expression of surprise on her face. She thought that Dana must have been really driven crazy by those interns. For her part, she really couldn’t complain — April had been a dream to her, always paying attention to what she was saying and all her advices. And she wasn’t saying that because she happened to be Kate’s little sister — Eveny really meant it. She had brought a great deal of help to the neurologist’s job. 

When Dana told her about Raina’s stories she pulled a disgusted face “Oh, God. Is she alright ?” She had already heard stories about passed-out women being kind of abused, but most of the time, it was because of men, not of women. “This is awful… Wasn’t anybody there to prevent that thing ? God…” She had wanted gossips, but not of that kind.
